Bio

Pattye Stragar has been with the Carnegie Mellon Department of Athletics since December 2003. She graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education with a minor in coaching and secondary education and earned her master's degree in physical education from Ithaca College.

Pattye is certified in Group Exercise, Zumba, jump stretch, group step, health & fitness for the 21st century, spinning, profile designs & heart rate games, sports nutrition, yoga fundamentals, group strength, kick boxing, aquatic exercise, personal training, program design and application, group fitness studio owners, Pilates matwork, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Kettle Weights, small group training, Insanity Live, Tabata Bootcamp and deep water exercise.

Pattye teaches physical education classes including fitness instructor training, fitness fusion, aqua at both ends, beginning tennis, badminton and golf.

Pattye is a certified lifeguard, certified in CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, has her Water Safety Instructor certification and is a CPO - certified pool operator, registered with Allegheny County as a public bathing place operator and has a category 24 pesticide certification. Pattye has also completed Tartan Allies, Green Dot Program, Safe Zone Training and Mental Health First Aid.

Prior to working at Carnegie Mellon, Pattye was the women's gymnastics coach, synchronized swimming advisor, cheerleading advisor, women's intramural director, taught physical education classes & private lessons in golf and tennis at Northwestern University.
