Tartan Men Honored by United Soccer Coaches with Team Academic Award

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team has been honored for its work in the classroom with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year.
Kalis Honored as CoSIDA Academic All-American

Carnegie Mellon University senior Ethan Kalis (Riverwoods, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Men’s Soccer Team. The honor for Kalis marks the second straight year, and 12th overall, the Tartans have had a member named an Academic All-American. Kalis was named to the third team and is one of three goalkeepers selected to the 35-member team.

Edmunds, Kalis Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Men’s Soccer

Carnegie Mellon University senior Jason Edmunds (Libertyville, Ill. / Libertyville) and senior Ethan Kalis (Riverwoods, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team. Edmunds earns the honor for the second straight season while Kalis is honored for the first time. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.
Tartans Close Year with Two First Career Goals in 2-1 Victory

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team topped Case Western Reserve University in its final game of the season at home on Sunday, November 7 by a 2-1 score. The Tartans finish the year with a 7-6-3 overall record and a 1-5-1 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Spartans finish at 6-8-2 and 1-5-1.
Tartans Fall 2-0 to #14 Chicago

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team played their third straight nationally ranked opponent on Sunday, October 31 when 14th-ranked University of Chicago visited Pittsburgh. The Maroons were able to breakthrough in the second half and finished with a 2-0 win to move the Tartans record to 6-6-3 and 0-5-1 in the University Athletic Association.
Tartans Tripped at Home by #7 WashU in 3-0 Loss

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted seventh-ranked Washington University in St. Louis for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Friday, October 29. The Tartans fell to the Bears, 3-0, and are now 6-5-3 overall and 0-4-1 in the UAA. The Bears advanced to 10-2-1 and 3-1-1.
Tough Luck for Tartans in 1-0 Defeat at #15 Emory

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team played another tight University Athletic Association (UAA) contest when they met 15th-ranked Emory University on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles were able to defend their home field and won a 1-0 game to move the Tartans' record to 6-4-3 and 0-3-1 while they advanced to 7-1-4 and 2-0-2.
Lightning Delayed Game Ends in 1-0 Defeat for Tartans

After a near three-hour delay to the start of the men's soccer game at the University of Rochester, the Carnegie Mellon University Tartans fell 1-0 to the Yellowjackets to move to 6-3-3 for the year and 0-2-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). Rochester improved to 6-2-3 and 1-2-0.
Tartans Take #11 NYU to Double OT

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team played into double overtime against 11th-ranked New York University (NYU) on Saturday, October 9 but ultimately fell 2-1 after a goal 40 seconds into the final frame gave NYU the win. The Tartans are now 6-2-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The Tartans carried most of the possession and had more opportunities but were held to a 1-1 tie against the Judges. The Tartans are now 6-1-3 overall while the Judges move to 3-4-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday, September 28 for its last contest before University Athletic Association (UAA) play begins. The Tartans rallied in the second half to tie the score and battled for the 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of action.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon and shutout the Barons, 1-0, for their sixth victory of the season. Senior Ethan Kalis (Riverwoods, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) made one save in the game and came off his line to slide and prevent a shot attempt in the second half to earn his fourth win and first shutout.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team tied the game late in the second half on a penalty kick by junior Josh Baugh (Boynton Beach, Fla. / Boca Prep) before an overtime golden goal by the visiting Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University gave the Tartans their first loss of the year. The Tartans are now 4-1-1 for the season while Ohio Northern moves to 3-2-1.
Tartans Remain Undefeated with 3-0 Win at W&J

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak with a 3-0 win at Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday, September 15 and are now 4-0-1 for the year. Freshman Kuba Yiadom (Bowie, Md. / Charles Herbert Flowers) recorded his second multi-goal game and remains the Tartans' leading scorer.
