ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; 12 Named Scholar Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the sixth straight season and 13th time in the last 14 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, 12 players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Alla Garners Second Straight Capital One Academic All-America Honor

Carnegie Mellon University men’s tennis junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Alla garnered second team accolades for the second straight year becoming the second Tartan men’s tennis player and first since Boris Sofman in 2004 and 2005 to earn back-to-back honors.
Alla Completes Season at NCAA Quarterfinals

Junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) competed at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Friday, May 22 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. Alla advanced to the quarterfinals on Friday after winning two straight set matches Thursday afternoon.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team had three players compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Thursday, May 21 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. Senior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) both earned All-America honors for their play.

Two Carnegie Mellon University men’s tennis players, senior Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) and junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School), were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.
Two Singles and Top Doubles Tandem Selected to NCAA Individual Men’s Tennis Championships

When the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Committee selected individuals and doubles teams to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships, Carnegie Mellon University found three of its athletes on the list. The senior pair of Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) and Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) were selected to team up in doubles play while Heaney-Secord along with junior Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) will play in the singles competition.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation, faced 13th-ranked University of Chicago in the third-place match at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Sunday, April 26. The Maroons pulled out an 8-1 victory and move the Tartans' record to 15-9.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation, fell Saturday, April 25 to fifth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis in the semifinals of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship tournament. The Bears won 7-2 after all six singles matches were played to three sets.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Championship on Friday, April 24 with a 7-2 first round victory against No. 29 Brandeis University. The Tartans, ranked 10th nationally, are now 15-7 overall and move on to the semifinals.

A doubles sweep led the 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team to a 7-2 victory against visiting Johns Hopkins University. The win moves the Tartans' record to 14-7 on the year while the No. 11 Blue Jays fall to 10-6.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 10th nationally, hosted No. 18 University of Mary Washington on Saturday, April 11 and topped the Eagles 6-3. The win improves the Tartans overall record to 13-7 while Carnegie Mellon snaps Mary Washington's 11-match win streak, as the Eagles move to 18-4.
