Murphy Honored Again; This Time by ECAC

Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va.) was named to the ECAC Division III Women's South Basketball All-Star Team. The sophomore earned a spot on the first team as she pulled in her second regional award of the year.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team had three players named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Basketball Team by the league’s coaches when the Association announced its postseason awards Wednesday, March 4. Sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) headlines with her second first-team award while juniors Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) and Lindsay Poss (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) were honored with honorable mention nods.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team closed its season at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 28. The Spartans pulled out an 82-66 win as sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) finished the year averaging 20.2 points and 10.2 rebounds to become just the second Tartan to average a double-double for a season.

It marks Murphy’s fourth honor this season.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team evened its record at 12-12 with an 85-74 victory over visiting Emory University on Sunday, February 22. Freshman Anna Novak (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) opened the game with a three-pointer and the long distance shot would be kind to the Tartans all game as they converted 10-of-15 for their best showing (.667) from behind the arc all season.
Last Second Shot Sinks Tartans Against Rochester

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team suffered a last second defeat at the hands of the University of Rochester on Friday, February 20 in Skibo Gymnasium. The Yellowjackets hit a shot with two second left to steal the 63-62 win and move to 14-9 on the year and 6-6 in the University Athletic Association. The Tartans are now 11-12 and 2-10.
Murphy Tabbed as UAA Athlete of the Week Again

Murphy led the Tartans statistically over the weekend at Brandeis University and New York University while breaking an UAA record.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team played at Brandeis University Friday, February 13 in University Athletic Association (UAA) action. Both teams entered the contest with identical overall records, as the Judges defeated the Tartans 59-44 despite a UAA and school record 10 blocks by Tartan sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean). The loss drops Carnegie Mellon’s record to 11-10, 2-8 and Brandeis moves to 12-9, 4-6.

Murphy Earns CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Honors

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) has been named to the women’s basketball 2015 Capital One Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Murphy is one of five players on the District 4 team. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

In the University Athletic Association (UAA) contest, the Tartans late rally was not enough as they fell 84-77. Carnegie Mellon is now 11-7, 2-5 in UAA play. Chicago improves to 12-6, 6-1.
