ITA Honors Women’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Four Named Scholar Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the 15th straight season and 22nd time in the last 23 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, four players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Yang Named Academic All-America

Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis junior Sarah Yang has been named to the Academic All-America® women’s tennis team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. Yang’s honor is the first for the program since 2022.

Tartans Place 10 on Softball and Tennis Academic All-District Teams

Ten men’s and women’s tennis and softball Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the fall season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.

Taylor, Venkatarama Finish Year at NCAA Singles Championship

Carnegie Mellon University senior Danna Taylor and sophomore Divya Venkatarama opened play at the 2024 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Saturday, May 25. Both were invited to the tournament for their singles play with competition taking place at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Venkatarama Named ITA Regional Most Improved; Selected to NCAA Singles Championship

Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis sophomore Divya Venkatarama was honored as the Division III Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regional Most Improved Player. Venkatarama was also selected to compete in the NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships after being listed as a top alternate when the first selections were announced last week.

Four Tartans Earn UAA Tennis Awards

Four Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday with recognition on the 2024 UAA Women's Tennis All-Association Team. Senior Danna Taylor and junior Sarah Yang are repeat awardees while junior Zoe Angell and sophomore Divya Venkatarama receive their first awards.

Taylor and Yang Invited to NCAA Women's Individual Championships

Senior Danna Taylor and junior Sarah Yang and have been selected to play for the NCAA Division III Women's Individual Championships to be held at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri, May 25-27. The championships are being hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.

#15 Tartans End NCAA Run in Third Round

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis hosted top ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the third round of 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon and dropped a 5-1 match to the Athenas. The Tartans move to 14-7 with CMS moving to 24-1.

78 Carnegie Mellon Student-Athletes Earn Spring Academic Honors

A total of 78 Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) All-Academic Recognition list for the spring sports teams, as announced by the Association on May 9.

Tartans Advance to Third Round of NCAA Championship with 5-0 Win

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis team, ranked 15th in the nation, hosted 27th-ranked North Central College on Friday, May 10 in the second round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship. The Tartans won 5-0 to move to 14-6 for the season while North Central ends the season with a 24-8 record.

#14 Women’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA Opening Rounds

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been selected to compete for the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship and will have the honor of hosting the first, second and third rounds of competition. The appearance in the postseason event will be the 18th for the program, all coming under head coach Andrew Girard. The Tartans will host action on Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11 with five teams traveling to Pittsburgh.

#15 Tartans Defeat #30 Brandeis for Fifth at UAA Championship

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team finished fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Championship after defeating 30th-ranked Brandeis University, 5-3, on Sunday. The Tartans are now 13-6 while the Judges move to 10-9.

#15 Tartans Down Rochester at UAA Championship

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team played the University of Rochester in the consolation semifinal of the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Saturday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Tartans defeated the Yellowjackets 5-0 and are now 12-6 on the season while Rochester moves to 5-13.

#15 Tartans Open Play at UAA Championship Against #13 Case Western Reserve

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Friday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida, with a 5-3 setback to 13th-ranked Case Western Reserve University. The Tartans moved to 11-6 overall while the Spartans are now 14-4.

#9 Tartans Conclude Regular Season with Setback at Kenyon

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked ninth nationally, traveled to Gambier, Ohio Sunday afternoon and left with a 5-1 setback to Kenyon College. The Tartans conclude their regular season slate with a record of 11-5.

#9 Tartans Win 9-0 Against Franciscan in Midweek Match

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked ninth in the nation, topped visiting Franciscan University on Thursday afternoon by a 9-0 score. The Tartans are now 11-4 for the season while the Barons move to 10-11.
