Men’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 26th consecutive year. More than 150 teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better for the 2021-22 academic year.

Outdoor Track and Field Garners 39 USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Honors

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 39 Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors awarded to its athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2022 outdoor track and field season. Twenty-eight represent the men while 11 represent the women with eight men and two women receiving multiple honors.

For the third consecutive year the Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country and track and field had multiple athletes named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans. Graduate students Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) and Bram Miller (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) along with senior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) each landed a spot on the Men's Cross Country/Track and Field First Team. It marks Kiefel second straight honor on the top team while it is Karee’s and Miller’s first accolade on the first team. It is the fourth time Karee has been honored in his career after garnering second team recognition his junior season and third team honors after his sophomore campaign. Miller was named to the second team a year ago.

On the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, senior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team repeats as All-American in the triple jump. The three-day championships are being held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The three-day championships are being held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Graduate students Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) and Bram Miller (Harmony, Pa. / Seneca Valley) along with seniors Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) and Michael OBroin ( Park Ridge, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) and sophomore Andrew McGovern (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field and cross country teams have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District selections. The honor marks the fourth for Karee, third for Miller and second for Kiefel.

This marks the most individual entries in school history for the Tartans.
