Contopoulos Brings In ECAC Honor

Senior Rachel Contopoulos (Oakland, Calif./Berkeley) brought in another honor for the Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team, as she was named a first-team all-star by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) on Friday, December 13. The honor follows the senior’s selection to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Great Lakes Region Team.
Reid and Contopoulos Named All-Region

Junior Savina Reid (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) and senior Rachel Contopoulos (Oakland, Calif./Berkeley) were named to the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-Great Lakes Region Team on Wednesday, December 4. Reid is honored for the second time, while Contopoulos ends her career with her first honor.
Tartans End Season in First Round of NCAA Tournament

The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer season concluded Saturday afternoon in the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship first round when it faced York (Pa.) College at Johns Hopkins University. The Spartans' first-half goal stood up for a 1-0 win over the Tartans who finish the year with a 9-5-3 record.

The University Athletic Association (UAA) announced its Women’s Soccer All-Association honors Friday, November 15 with seven Carnegie Mellon players earning the distinction. Three players received second-team honors with another four earning honorable mention status.
Women’s Soccer NCAA Preview: Tartans Head to Baltimore

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team will be making the program’s second-ever appearance in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship when it travels to Baltimore, Md., for the first round of 64-team field. The Tartans earned an at-large bid to the tournament following a 9-4-2 season in which they were ranked nationally from start to finish. The team is one year removed from an Elite Eight appearance.

The Eagles (14-3-1, 6-1) defended their home turf with a 3-0 win, moving the Tartans record to 9-4-2 on the year and 3-3-1 in the University Athletic Association.

The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to Rochester, N.Y. for an University Athletic Association (UAA) match against the University of Rochester on Sunday, November 3. Ninety minutes of action wasn't enough to determine a winner as Rochester used the second overtime to defeat the Tartans 3-2 and earn its first win in UAA play.

Senior forward Alex Venegas (Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake School) recorded the game winner as freshman Katie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio/Montessori HS at University Circle) tallied her fourth win in net for the Tartans.

Sophomore Louisa Pendergast (Snohomish, Wash./Glacier Peak) finished a penalty kick for the winning goal to move the Tartans to 7-2-2 on the year and 1-1-1 in UAA play.
