Men’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 28th consecutive year. The men's track and field team earned the distinction because of a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better for the 2023-24 academic year, as the Tartans carried a cumulative team GPA of 3.51 for the academic year.
McGovern Named First Team Academic All-America for Second Time

For the second straight season, senior Andrew McGovern of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team has been selected to the first team of the 2024 Academic All-America® men's cross country and track and field team as selected by the College Sports Communicators for NCAA Division III.
Tartans Place 14 on Cross Country/Track and At-Large Academic All-District Teams

Fourteen Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes from the cross country, track and field, and golf teams were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.
Rich Earns All-America Honor in Decathlon at NCAA Outdoor Championships

Outdoor Track and Field Garners 26 USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Honors

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 26 Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors awarded to its athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2024 outdoor track and field season. Seventeen represent the men while nine represent the women with two men receiving multiple honors and one woman.
Connelly Named Men’s Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year

Associate head coach Tim Connelly of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field teams was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with outstanding regional recognition. The 10-year coach was named Mid-Atlantic Assistant Coach of the Year for the men.
Six Tartans to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team had six athletes earn selection to the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This marks the fifth straight outdoor championships that the Tartans will have three or more athletes competing.

Alligood and Hsu Named UAA Men’s Track and Field Most Outstanding Outdoor Performers, Coaching Staff Honored

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Sam Alligood and senior Jacob Hsu were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) when the 2024 Outdoor Track and Field awards were announced Tuesday. Alligood was named Most Outstanding Performer in the field events, while Hsu was Most Outstanding Performer in the running events. Both played a major contribution in helping lead the Tartans to back-to-back UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The coaching staff was also honored as the Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Rich Named UAA Field Athlete of the Week

Senior Thomas Rich of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s outdoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events. The senior competed at the Susquehanna Multi last Thursday and Friday while winning the decathlon with a school record 6,823 points which broke his own record of 6,606 set last season at the NCAA Championships.
